Takoi is a kindhearted, unmarried detective in his forties assigned to the Criminal Affairs Division of the peaceful, semi-rural Yamanomichi Police Station. A non-career officer, he is well-loved by people of all ages in the local community.
Constantly at odds with him is Shiono, a handsome junior officer in his twenties from the Community Safety Division who is on the fast-track career path. The two clash over the smallest things every day, and to make matters worse, they are also neighbors in the police dormitory.
